About Us

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) is a professional organization serving Architects in the United States of America. The American Institute of Architects (AIA) was founded in 1887 by Richard Upjohn of New York.

The Washington State Chapter of the AIA was established in Seattle in 1894.

The AIA Central Washington Chapter was formed in 1964 to serve architecture professionals from the central and southwest Washington area, including Yakima, the Tri Cities, Walla Walla, Ellensburg and Moses Lake. With over 45 members, the AIA Central Washington Chapter serves our communities by enhancing the built environment and promoting the value of excellence in design and planning.
